Childhood Years
Maraina was born in Newport Arkansas, her mother and father shared the owner ship of a successful family farming operation. She grew up in the county with two older brothers and lots of cousins. Her life was pretty good growing up as the only girl in six generations on her father’s side. She learned to fight at an early age, she was learning about hunting since she was old enough to go, and she loved to fish. She had no problems with playing in the dirt or in spending hours at a time on tractors with her dad and brothers. She loved animals and always had some pet around at all times but her favorite pets were a pony named Happy and a little hound named Roscoe. She was brought up like a boy but to her mother’s relief she never forgot that she was a girl and loved dressing up as much as dressing down.
School and High School Years
During school she was popular in the way that everyone knows her and she had friends in all social groups. She liked people and always made friends. In High School she was rowdy and wanted to be one of the guys but all her guy friends were starting to see her in different ways and all her girlfriends where jealous that she got so much attention from the boys they liked. Mara had no time for dates, her mother and father worked her to death on the farm as soon as she was old enough to drive a tractor and her brothers where always right behind her if any guy got too close to her. Her brothers would also take her hunting, fishing or camping with them, just too keep her out of trouble and because they liked spending time with her. They did not like that she could out shoot fish or drink them.
She was pretty good with a gun and she was pretty good with knives too. She wasn’t great at throwing them as much as she was at sharpening them and using them to stab or clean something. She was not skittish of blood at all. Even though she spent a lot of time with her family she always found time to play. Some nights she would sneak off into the woods with some friends and have a bonfire. They would drink and just goof off. This is where she met trouble. She was sixteen years old when she met Chad Marlette at one of these riverside parties. He was new and he was from the city and he was a bad boy. Every girl wanted him his attention was on Maraina.
As much as she wanted too she just could not pretend it was alright and she left that night. The next day he showed up on her farm with his brother Allan. These boys where as different as night and day, Chad was a bad boy while Allan was just a little good ol boy, Mara was sure Allan got passed over a lot for his much older and much meaner brother. Her father let Allan work her him but told his brother to get lost. Chad later started College that summer and was gone from her life, that same summer Mara and Allan started seeing each other. She dated Allan through high school until the last summer before college. By the time she was ready for College her brothers where done and starting to take over the family farm. Her mother and father took the money they had saved and moved to Mountain View. Mara left Allan to go to college, something she would never forgive herself for doing.
Collage Years
One semester down and she started dating another guy who had been in some trouble in the past with the law over drugs. She still spoke with Allan now and then but never said anything about the new guy. Her four years in college was hard for her. She was juggling farming at night, working another job in the day, classes, homework and a relationship. During the last semester of her college year she decided she would take a year and just work on the farm before she decided on what to do with her new business degree. Her brothers said they wanted her to come work for them, take up ownership of some of the land and just enjoy life the only thing they wanted from her was for her to leave the guy she was with. No one knew it, but Allan could since it, over the years she started to change more and more.
She started College when she was 19 years old, she would finish by the time she was 23. Sometime between all her work and school, when she did find time to see her new boyfriend he became more and more aggressive with her. It would seem that he had started using again he never laid a hand on her until about the end of her last semester in college. After she had passed she went back to her family’s farm with him in tow. Her brothers and Allan was thrilled to see her but wondered why she wouldn’t look at them or why she did not act the same as she used too until that night. Her new man informed everyone that they where to marry and he would take control of her part of the farm and there was nothing they could do about it.
A new life
Her brothers and Allan begged her not too. Her new man became in raged and started yelling at her when she started to side with her family and ex. When he went to slap Mara, Allan jumped over the table and pinned him down with a knife pressed to his neck. One of her brothers held her while she cried and the other started talking Allan down. After seeing that did not go well she made up her mind the new guy had to go. For a month he kept coming over trying to see her, between Allan and her two brothers he never had a chance. It would take two years before Mara started acting right again but even then there was something broken in her and no matter what, you could always see it. She and Allan started dating again on her 26th birthday; by this time she was in control of her inherited land and allowing Allan to have some control as well since she trusted his judgment on things.
Married
Mara and Allan married on her 28th birthday, changing her last name from Rose to Marlette. Maraina and Allan took an acer of her land and built a house on it, a barn and fence for their horses. They had another acer set up just for the horses to run and graze in. They started thinking about children and other things that married people do after a curtain time. They decided it could be a few years before they were settled enough for children but they did want a few to hand there land down too. When Mara was 29 she had the first of two children, the second one would be born a year later.
Zombie Attack
Seven years later her son came home with a bite that infected her other son and before the night was over everyone she loved was lost. Without realizing at the time what was going on she climbed out of the window in the house, settled up her mare, leaped the fence and just took off with a small sack of ammo, food and supplies. She made sure to grab a knife and keep her shot gun close. Since that night she has been wondering from place to place looking for some where safe and looking for other survivors.

Anything Else?
She is a self hating redneck. What I mean is, she is a redneck but she will argue with you if you call her one. She says she’s county and not a redneck. She is very addicted to sunflower seeds and has a stash in her bag at all times; she will hunt for them in stores if she has too. It’s better than smoking to her.
Roleplay Sample:
Seven years after her first child was born he came home from school one day and went out to play with his little brother. Her second son ran inside and said something was wrong with his brother Charlie, because Charlie bit him. Mara didn’t think anything of this until her son; Mike showed her where Charlie had taken a chunk out of his shoulder. Mara called for Allan to come in from where he was chopping wood, she asked him to go find Charlie, something was wrong but she didn’t know what. Allan went to find their son. Hours later Mike was sick in bed and she was on the phone with the hospital, they told her that there was nothing they could do for him since they didn’t know what it was, then the line went down. Mara was confused and scared. It had been three hours since she had seen Mike or Allan. After six hours Mara went to check on Mike, it looked like he was doing better and was asleep.
She left him alone but went into the gun case in her and Allan’s room and took out her shot gun and some extra shells. She then posted up by the door and waited. After nine hours she heard the door creak, she turned and saw Mike come out of the bed room but he was not acting right. She called him over to her but he didn’t seem to really acknowledge her. She started over to him and could tell something was really wrong. Scared she knelt down to talk to him but he only snarled at her. Just then the door busted open and Allan ran inside, “Don’t! He’s infected!” Allan snatched her back just as Mike tried to take a chunk out of Mara’s hand. Without thinking Mara kicked out and kicked Mike over where he banged his head on the wall.
Mara freaked out and shoved Allan trying to get him off of her, in her panic she did not notice one of her brothers smeared in blood step over her and fire a run right into Mike’s temple, putting him down for good. Something broke in Mara. She went very still and was out. She came too hours later to the sounds of glass breaking and groaning and moaning. She sat up and looked around, it was dark and she could barely see in the dark. She heard thumping and thought it was in her head until she realized it was Allan running into the door over and over in a limp walk. She blinked a few times before softly calling out to him, asking what was going on. He at last turned to her and she saw that half of his face was gone. “OH!” she jumped back. He started over to her, she kicked him back with her foot, jumped up with the knife that sat on her bedside and slammed it into his skull.
She told herself this was not happening as she slid her knife back out of his skull with a sick sound of metal on bone. She then huddled in the corner and cried. After a few minutes she knew what she had to do. She pulled herself together and fights her way out. She went to the closet and found a change of clothes; she slipped on a pair of jeans and a tee. She shoved some clothing in a bag along with some ammo form the gun rack and a few knifes and a few smaller handhelds with silencers, “A country girl will survive” she breathed to herself with no real humor. She walked over to the window and slid it open; she crawled out of the window with her bag in hand and set off in a soft jog to where the barn was. She was so glad her brothers taught her how to be quiet in the woods; she never believed it would be so handy. She slipped into the dark barn and wished she had grabbed a flash light. She made her way over to where her horse was and shushed her terrified horse.
She knew that horse was not stupid; it knew something was very wrong. Mara let her horse out slowly and walked over to the tack room. The horse stood still while she removed a blanket, saddle and reigns from the inside of the room. Mara was no champion rider but she was good enough and her horse was trained enough to let Mara shoot off her back and knew how to round up other horses. After both where ready she kicked Dixie as hard as she could “Ya!” the horse busted out of the barn and went right for the gate, soon she was over the gate and they were running down the road at top speed. Mara turned Dixie off the main road and drove her down to the river. Mara allowed Dixie to show down once she got her to more tricky places. The two wondered for hours before Mara made them stop. She had down a building she knew was empty.
Mara and Dixie spent the night in the old building. Mara cried herself to sleep, the next day, when she woke she took Dixie out for some air and to feed. Then she was back to riding and trying to figure out where to go from here. Over the course of weeks Mara and Dixie traveled far but Dixie met her end somewhere down in Mississippi where she just gave out. Mara found herself a nice truck to “borrow” and continued heading to Georgia where she had some family and she heard there was a safe place to be.
