Character Name:Melanie Renton
Age: 21
Hometown: Brisbane, Australia
Current Location: Texas
Bio: Melanie was the second sibling in a family of four. She lead a family average life. Her mother stayed at home with the kids while her father ran his dentist clinic. They always had more than enough money and Melanie became used to the creature comforts of a 21st century lifestyle. She went to a private primary school and topped her grade in field and track events. She was a born and breed runner.
After graduating high school she attended University for a year with her high school sweet heart. He had always told her that they would get married one day, but she refused to become her mother. Melanie wanted to build a career and a name for herself outside of her husband – if she ever married – so when she applied for a scholarship with the MSU and was successful she didn’t hesitate to leave her boyfriend and his ring behind.
Life in America was hard at first, and the customs were hard to grasp. Melanie had never thought that it would be all the different from Australia but it was, and it shocked her. It took Melanie a long time to drop her slang and she did eventually find herself comfortable living the life style of an American University student.
Her studies in Biomedical Engineering were pretty full on and though she found herself with the “in” crowd, her most enjoyable and memorable moments from University were when she simply hung out with her rather unique roommate Ray(Sarah-Richelle).
The two young women were hanging out in their room together, watching a horrifically B-grade movie when screams alerted them to the beginnings of the outbreak. The two girls were at a loss, and while Melanie paled at the blood and carnage, Ray switched into survival mode and dragged her along. Melanie’s roommate managed to hot-wire a car and before she could really process what was going on the two were on the road, bound for Ray’s hometown.
The two found her house boarded up, and their hopes had run high, until the broken window had been spotted and blood, long since dried, splattered the walls and furniture.
It soon became Melanie’s turn to act in a crisis situation and she forced her roommate from the house and into the car, narrowly avoiding a hoard of walkers that had heard Ray’s high pitched keening over her family.
The two are now lost in Texas with no idea where to go.

Roleplay Sample:
“It’s so hot,” a blonde with black streaks throughout her hair noted, turning to glance across at her companion in the passenger seat, sweat pooling at her hair line.
“I know,” the brunette nodded and tore her eyes away from the blurred scenery and glanced across at her friend, with a heavy look. The two young women were weary and the strain of the past few weeks etched its mark across their faces. Heavy purple bags rested beneath their vastly different colored eyes and sweat and grim clung to their faces in streaks. Their clothes were holey, caked with dirt and dust and hung off the two young women like rags.
“We used the last jerry can yesterday. We need to stop for petrol soon. You should probably grab some food as well, I’m sick of muesli bars.” The brunette sighed wearily. When would this nightmare end? Surely, things like this didn’t happen. The dead couldn’t rise. It was biologically impossible and yet here they were trapped in the middle of a real life horror film, only they weren’t doctors, policemen or ex-military personal. They didn’t know the first thing about survival situations or handling weapons. They were two university students who were riding on the wings of lady luck’s generous pardon. They had wormed their way through a campus crawling with the walking dead, navigated their way across the country, avoided hordes of zombies and somehow managed not to die of starvation or thirst. The duo held no special skills and it was pure, sheer luck that they had made it this fair.
“Yeah, I could go for some beef jerky.” Ray, the blonde said as the sparks of life returned to her eyes. It was silly how something so small could reignite an internal fire, but when everything else was a whirl wind of chaos, finding joy in the simplest things was the only way you could survive.
“Beef jerky?” Mel let out a cracked laugh, a sound that had become so foreign to her recently, “Ray, you had a world of choices and you decide to go with beef jerky. Gross.”[/b][/size]
