It was a cold morning and Beatrix and Lily had slept in a old abandoned barn that was in a way close to the city but hardly any walker's had been around that area. As of now they were safe and everything and Beatrix didn't have to worry about people that she didn't trust coming around this area any time soon. All she could do was protect her baby sis and make sure nothing happen to her sister because if something did she would use all of her rage against them and make sure that they didn't live a pleasant life no more.
Beatrix rubbed her tired eye's and could see the small light coming into the barn from the sun. It was finally morning and now they could get a move on to some where, where there would be fresh food and things needed to survive. It would be a crazy idea trying to survive in a barn without the needed materials like fresh water, food, and materials to keep each other warm. She stood up from the corner of the barn and saw that her sister was still asleep. There was no way that she was going to leave her here alone by herself.
She walked around the barn looking through the tiny windows and not seeing any walkers and that was a sign that there was either none in the area or they had scampered off looking for fresh meat that was hiding in the perfect hiding spot. She looked around and was surprised that she didn't freeze her butt off the night before when they found this place, but all in all it kept them safe, but not for long anyways. Beatrix wanted to get a move on and try to find another place that was like this just in the mean time if walkers ended up appearing through the sunlight, or even the sun set at dawn.
Beatrix knew that once it hit night time this place wouldn't be safe for very long. She looked at her sleeping sister and decided to wake her up so they could get a move on before something nasty would happen. She walked over to her and tapped her on the arm a few times. "Lillian...Oh Lillian." She said while she continuously was poking at her. "We must leave very shortly and try to find another safe spot before more of those things appear." She said in a quiet whisper. She was worried that the worse was going to happen to them if they stayed in that one single spot and oh hell that would be the worst having to battle blood thirsty walker's. "Its wake up time now. No complaining." She added and stood back up to look through the windows of the barn.

Lillian didn't have trouble with math problems. She didn't have trouble reading. Nor did she have much trouble running. However there was one thing that proved quite a feat and difficult for the little girl: Sleeping. Every time she shut her eyes she saw the dark, something she lately wasn't necessarily fond of, and when she didn't see dark her dreams were haunted by the faces of scary Walkers. Not something ANYONE wanted to be greeted by let alone a little girl. This had proven so troublesome in fact that she actually was wide awake when Beatrix got up and started walking around the barn surveying their surroundings.
Lillian laid on her side doing her best to remain still so not to draw her own sister's vision her direction. If it hadn't been for the bad dreams the cold alone would have kept her wide awake. She did her best to remain relaxed in the fetal position she currently laid in atop a pile of hay. She could already feel that some loose pieces of straw had managed to become stuck in her tangles of blonde hair. Beatrix would surely make fun or at least a comment, something Lily inwardly cringed about.
Feeling a light but insistent tapping on her arm Lillian took the cue to sit up, and spry right up she did her blue eyes immediately searching out her sisters. "I don't like it here. It's cold." She frowned and crossed her arms stubbornly over her chest. Another thing she hated... The uncomfortable sweater she was currently sporting warm as it was it was also quite itchy. "We should have stayed with Finny and Rory. They didn't look dangerous to me. They were nice." She had already forgotten the reasoning that Beatrix had used to get her to stray from the two brothers but surely she would be reminded.
"And I'm not complaining, I'm just saying." She countered with a little glare before rising onto her own two feet. Little hands attempted to dust loose pieces of straw off of her body, not a fun task but she made quick work of it. "They liked us. I liked them."

There were many reasons as to why Beatrix had them flea from the Mckenna brother's but the main reason that roamed through her head constantly was that they didn't seem trust worthy and that they might end up using them as a easy get away pawn and would of stranded them in a dark place with walker's all over. They were nice but too nice and if someone was too nice that meant that they were always up to something and it wasn't a good something either.
It was her duty to watch her sister and keep her out of danger. She knew that Lillian had made a tight bond to the brother's and all but she made a wee white lie for their own good. She had to tell her that they would eventually abandon them and leave them to die or else her own sister wouldn't have budge and they would be stuck singing the ABC's in a abandoned house with those guys and they wouldn't have made any progress and survived this far. As the eldest sister Beatrix knew it was her job to keep a look out and that meant lying to Lillian and make her believe things that might have been untrue but in the long run it would help them survive the best that they could.
Hearing her sister's comment about the cold made her crossed her arms tightly. Yes it was cold and all but they both had to deal with it and not complain about it. For better or worse at least. "Lillian i know its cold and all but we have to deal with this place until the sun it completely risen." She told her with a small smile. It was better making what they got instead of going some where and looking for a warm cozy blanket and possibly getting attacked at the same time. She scratched her forehead and frowned. She couldn't believe that her sister thought of them as good guys when they could of fed them to the zombies so they could of saved themselves. "Lil they were dangerous, they were planning on using us so they could get away and leave us in that house to rot." She said with her tone stern. Beatrix didn't trust anyone and there was no way that she would of stayed with those two men any longer.
She sat herself down on the pointy hay and crossed her legs. This was just what she wanted to hear that her sister liked those guys. It was like her sister couldn't see that she saved them before they would have gotten hurt. "Sis we are safer now though, i mean come on if we stayed who knows what would of became of us, we could of ended up like mom and dad." She said in a guilty tone. Sometimes she had to use the guilt trip on her sister so she would understand what she was risking for them to stay healthy and safe. "Those guys did not like us, they were trying to manipulate us to believe that, but i knew better and i got us out of there before we would end up being turned into some flesh eating walker." She added and stood herself up and put her foot down. "Besides i didn't trust them from the start, they aren't good men Lillian, there are bad people out there. I just wish you would understand that." She said letting out a sigh wishing her sister would see what she saw and stopped thinking everyone was friendly.

Blue eyes stared at her sister and widened slightly at Beatrix explained. "Rory and Finny wanted us to rot?" She repeated quietly, the words hiding somewhat beneath her breath. The very thought seemed to surprise her if not hurt her which was odd because she hadn't known the men over 24 hours, if that even. She had wanted to believe them, or believe in them at least, but Lillian always believed Beatrix and all the older sister had to do was rattle off sentences and little Lillian would believe every word of it: Genius or not.
Still harboring on the thought she felt her eyes sting, tears wanting to make their grand entrance but she held every single one at bay by merely wiping her eyes with her upper left arm. "Why would they do that? They like me. They saved me. Rory and Finny would let those things eat me?" Even just uttering the words hurt her insides and it visibly showed. Her face wrenched into an expression that looked horribly uncomfortable and she forced her gaze down to the barn floor. This wasn't fair. Not one bit.
"Rory and Finny wouldn't have eaten me... They were nice boys." She murmured with a frown cringing again at the very thought at her little heart broke. It was when Beatrix brought up their deceased parents that the horrid memories came flying back all at once. The images all too vivid of the hungry look that her parents had given her, dead hungry eyes, and mouths covered with blood. That was enough to steer Lillian in the direction that Beatrix had desired. At the moment all she could manage was a little nod in agreeance. It was now apparent that the Walkers weren't the only zombies following each other blindly around the country.
As Beatrix went on talking Lily's eyes drifted and after a few moments landed on the hay stack where she spotted her Polaroid camera. She had collected it a day earlier on their travels and had refrained from taking any photos (a giant feat for a little girl). Without so much as a word she bent down, lifted the camera with both of her tiny hands and snapped a photo of Beatrix. The camera made a blinding flash, made a loud sound, and then a picture slipped out though it hadn't developed just yet.
"There Beatrix. Look!" She exclaimed before hurrying in front of her big sister, holding out the photo which was now becoming visible. Beatrix in the photo was, of course, not smiling. "You're pretty."

Instantly she could tell that her words had hurt her sister but what she said was steering her sister into the right direction that those men were not good to be around and of course Beatrix's plan was working and she was doing the right of both of them and not having to worry about those men reappearing into their lives. She was hoping that the worse would happen to them s they would not suddenly appear in front of them. That would be devastating and that meant that Beatrix would have to stir up more words to convince her baby sis that they should not be around those men.
She nodded her head at Lillian's question. "Yes they wanted us to rot. They wanted us to believe that they were here for us and then suddenly disappear one morning. I guess i can tell you i heard them talking about it that night after they put on that act of saving you." She told her. She wanted to make sure that her sister kept believing her lie that she was telling her and that meant that she had to stick with the same story and make sure she didn't question any of it. This seemed like it was harder then she thought to convince her sister that those men were no good period. "They wanted to seem like they were good men, like they were hero's but they had a plan to get rid of us once we got attached to them." She added as she scratched the tip of her scalp and looked at her sister with sad eye's.
She could tell that her sister was upset and that meant her whole scheme was working and she believed every word that was coming out of her mouth. "They were acting like good guys Lil, in the end their lives were much more important then our lives, and they wanted walker's to come after us, or else they were just going to kill us if we didn't get out of there." She said. This was a piece of cake manipulating her sister into believe that those boys were pure evil and this was kinda fun making all of that up, but like always it was better to protect her then have her sister follow those men like they were role models.
Beatrix stood up and then saw a flash come out of the Polaroid camera that her sister had picked up. She smiled when she saw it fall to the floor. She walked behind her sister and saw it and heard her sister's comment. "Thanks Lil, but I'm not as pretty as you." She said and looked out the window one last time before she said. "I think it is time for us to get a move on and find some fresh water and a new place to stay." She added as she opened up the rusty barn door. "Lets get a move on Lil." She said and took a step out waiting for her sister to follow.

"I'm not pretty, I'm smart." She dispelled the comment with a simple shrug and a certain confidence. This wasn't egocentrism but it was actually just a fact in her mind. Lillian never heard from other people that she was pretty, save her mother and father, but she was CONSTANTLY told that she was smart or intelligent by just about everyone. Surely if everyone said it or believed it it had to be a fact, and facts were something that Lillian could believe and relay full heartedly. Facts were dependable... More dependable and reliable than people usually.
"You got to be pretty and smart. It's not fair." She declared simply with a certain detachment as she took the photo back and studied it for a few fleeting moments. Lillian always saw Beatrix as intelligent, she was her older sister after all and one she looked up to! Of course Lily had no idea how sometimes Beatrix probably felt ridiculously stupid with everyone fawning over how brilliant Lillian was, sometimes Beatrix just got lost in the crowd. Not anymore though, when you were one of the few remaining living, breathing people you just kind of stuck out.
Her sister was quite insistent on moving now and Lillian, though begrudgingly, followed. "When can we just stay in one place?" She pouted, though a genius she was still a little girl and one that didn't like all of this traveling. "Mommy and daddy only lived in one house all of their lives... They died and ate each other in the same house." Yep, more of that disgusting detachment.
Making her way through the barn doors Lillian gave an empty metal can a kick with a grunt before looking up at her sister holding the photo out for her to look at again. "If you turn into one of those things are you going to eat me? I won't eat you." Oh, if only the poor little girl knew...

In her eye's she always thought her sister was pretty and in the future if they ever made it to the point of being two grown women she thought her sister would be a beautiful intelligent woman, but that was just how she saw it and nothing more. "Lil you are very pretty, you have moms eye's and dads smart. When your older your going to be the perfect package deal for guys." She said to her. It was just how she saw things and besides Beatrix was a loner in her own little circle and never made many friends when she was in school before many of the living turned into the dead.
Never in a million years did Beatrix find herself pretty and smart. Was it all in all because she was the older sister and that was why her sister thought that? She shook her head in disagreement. "Wow, hold it Lil tiger i am not pretty and i am not smart. If i was then my life would be set, and the world wouldn't be the mess it that it is..." She then paused. "And i hope you know that was just a joke." In her own eye's she felt like once her sister came into the world it was all about her. Yes there was many times before the outbreak had happened Beatrix was jealous of her kid sister and didn't understand how she could get so much attention and she felt left in the dust, and honestly hated it, but now she was protecting her sister and that meant everything to her.
Beatrix hear her question and looked around and scratched her head. She didn't wanna stay in one place for to long because in the end she knew walker's would be at the front door of any place trying to eat them. She saw her sister's pout and wanted that pout to turn into a smile. "We will stop moving around when we find a place that looks like a good strong place where we can enjoy ourselves and be safe at the same time." She told her not even sure if what she was saying was the truth or not but she didn't like to see her sister upset about all of these traveling. "Lillian mommy and daddy didn't always live in that house, they moved into that house when you were just a baby, and before that before you and i were born mommy and daddy lived with their parents." She explained to Lillian but gave a look of disgust when she remembered seeing their parents eat each other it was a horrible view.
Her eye's drifted back to the photo that Lillian took of her. She could admit she looked kinda pretty in the picture but she wasn't one to brag about how she looked because in the end she was pretty insecure about how she looked and all. "Lil kiddo if i turn into those things i will eat anything, and if you turn into one of those things you will do the same. Its much more complicated then us not eating one another, but we both gotta make sure none are around and then we will be safe and won't eat one another like our parents did." Beatrix told her giving her a tiny smile. She could never imagine turning into one of those things it would just be horrible. She took another step out the barn and looked at the sun.

"That's genetics and that's your opinion on it. It doesn't make it true." Lillian gave a casual shrug as she countered her sister's comment. Sisters HAD to say things like that and not necessarily mean them, though Lillian always meant what she said but she was different. So of course Beatrix would say nice things to make her little sister feel better even if they weren't true. Of course Lillian didn't dislike her for it but she was certainly intelligent enough to know a white lie when she saw them. These white lies were becoming increasingly more frequent now a days with the whole end of the world thing.
"Yuck. Boys." Her entire face scrunched up as though someone had just forced her to give a hearty suck on a lemon. Stumbling out of the barn behind her sister she gave a few stray pebbles a kick. "I don't want to be a package or anything for them. They're stupid." Boys had been some of the main culprits of bullying back when she had been enrolled in public school. Many a lunch time had been spent flat on her stomach on the black pavement as one of them sat on her back and forced her head to be held up by a powerful grasp stemming from the blonde hair on her scalp. Not exactly a highlight.
"I hate boys." She concluded though this wasn't entirely true, it was now increasingly apparent that in less than twenty four hours she had becoming quite attached and a staunch defender of the McKenna brothers who she had been forced to leave. "But that doesn't really matter. There's not many boys left anyhow." She went on with another careless shrug. Reaching up her small, slender hands adjusted the camera and it's strap that currently hung around her neck like a necklace.
"It's okay Beatrix. I'll be smart enough for the both of us." Lillian stated simply. This wasn't a comment made out of egocentrism or to be mean but it had been something Lily had heard over and over again. She was brilliant. She was smart. Beatrix probably heard it so much about her baby sister that she wanted to puke. But if you kept telling a little kid that they were bound to believe you and this was one of the few things in life that Lillian was sure of other than the things she read in books.
"But now we don't have a mommy and daddy. We don't have anybody." She pouted now managing to walk along side her sister taking every two steps for every one that Beatrix took. "I'm a freak anyways. I don't want to turn into one of those things and become an even bigger one." This was spoken with an even bigger amount of detachment that far belied her young years. Sometimes it was almost eerie how Lillian Thomas could decompartamentalize.
