As soon as they were safely inside the room, Tess turned and closed the door, locking it and pressing her back against it for support. Her heart felt like it was about the pound out of her chest. With each gun shot down stairs she grew more and more nervous. What if they ran out of bullets? Would the house be over run? Nervously running her fingers through her flyaway blonde hair, she finally moved away from the door.
"If they can't I don't see how we'll be able to help," she said looking around the room for something to use as a weapon. There was a lamp on a bedside table next to the window. She could hit them with that...gah, that was ridiculous.
Tess took a seat next to Madeline and waited. It seemed like forever before the shooting stopped and was replaced by someone yelling for them to come downstairs. Tess looked at Maddie and shook her head.
"He sounds angry." She looked at the door and then back at Maddie, her eyes wide. "Maybe coming here wasn't such a good idea." She could hear them moving around below and it didn't sound like they were coming up anytime soon.
"Should we go down?"
